Valley Road School is committed to improving outcomes and having high expectations for all children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We believe that every child is unique and that all pupils should have access to a broad and balanced curriculum that enables them to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection recognised the inclusive approach at Valley Road, noting that leaders do not use a label as a reason for lowering ambition and that pupils with SEND are supported to learn the curriculum well.
Staff work closely with parents, outside agencies and the school’s SENDCo to ensure that appropriate support is in place for pupils with additional needs. Further information about our SEND provision, including the SEN Information Report, can be found in the documents below.
We understand that for parents of children with SEND, there can be many difficult paths to navigate. Sometimes it can be hard to know or find the answers but we strive to ensure that there is always somebody here to talk through your worries, concerns or queries with.
If additional specialist advice or support is necessary we will work with external agencies ie, The NHS, educational psychologists and play therapists. We believe that a multi-disciplinary approach should be taken to ensure that we meet the pupils' special educational needs.
